Email has consistently proven to be one of the hardest working digital marketing channels yet, many of us are guilty of sticking with tried and tested designs.

If you feel like your email could do with a spring clean to give it a new lease of life, this infographic from Email Monks is jam packed with a series of email design trends to try now.

As the infographic notes, animated GIFS – the “love child of a video and static image” beguiled many a brand in 2016. The good news if you’re a fan of the animated message is that this is one trend that looks set to stay the course in 2017.

Flat designs, with clean looks and mobile-friendly layouts should also be on your radar, as should minimalistic designs which make it easy to absorb a key piece of information without data or design overload.

While these trends will be carried over after a successful 2016, what about new trends for 2017? There looks to be lots of creativity on the horizon with Email Monks predicting keyframe animation, cinemagraphs and live backgrounds along with more interactive elements.
