Google Ads and YouTube have announced a number of new AI-powered features designed to make it easier to produce high quality video content. YouTube is additionally launching a range of tools aimed at helping creators  grow and engage with their communities more effectively.

Google Ads AI video enhancements

Two new enhancements use smart automation features to optimize video content. They work in a simple, streamlined process designed to save creators time and resources.

Create videos in new aspect and ratio

Google's AI can intelligently flip your horizontal video to create additional vertical and square videos, which fit better and feel more natural on mobile devices.

It can create the following sizes, optimized for viewing on mobile devices and social media stories:

  • 1:1 square videos
  • 4.5 and 9.16 vertical videos

The AI ensures that key elements of the original are shown properly on the new aspect versions.

Additional versions of the video will run automatically if they pass a quality review.

Shorter versions of your video ads

The AI will produce shorter versions of your ads without you needing to do any editing. It selects key moments of your videos and creates a new version while retaining the message and appearance of the original.  Again, additional versions will run automatically if they pass a quality review.

Video enhancements are turned on by default, but you can switch them off at any time in your campaign settings. Select Sales as the campaign objective and Video as the campaign type, then go to the Additional settings drop-down.

YouTube new features

YouTube is also introducing new AI-powered features to help creators.

Veo for Dream Screen

YouTube announced that its Dream Screen feature, which allows creators to generate backgrounds for Shorts, will soon be enhanced by integrating Google DeepMind's advanced video-generating AI model, Veo.

The generative AI model will allow creators to create 6-second videos and backgrounds. It means you can produce a stunning look or special effects that really illustrate your creative vision without having to spend huge resources or worry about budgetary constraints.

Inspiration

Creators will also have a new brainstorming tool at their disposal with the AI-powered Inspiration tab.  The tool can help with outlines, thumbnail ideas and title suggestions.

Auto-dubbing

AI-powered auto-dubbing will enable creators to expland their international reach. YouTube says the first versions will be pretty basic, but they’re working on being able to convey a more complex range of human emotions and expressions “to make you sound like you” in another language.

Community features

YouTube is also introducing some new features to help with community building and engagement.

  • Communities: This feature will allow fans to talk to each other and post to their community. Creators retain control with the ability to turn the feature on or off and to set requirements.
  • Community Hub: The comment tab in studio is being replaced by a new Community Hub. Creators will be able to manage comments. New features include the ability to spotlight key commenters, and AI-powered reply suggestions to help respond to comments.
  • Hype: Fans will be able to hype - kind of super-like - a video to help boost emerging creators.

The new AI-driven video tools give creators access to some highly effective resources, which can save both time and effort.

Leveraging the AI gives creators the opportunity to create stunning visuals without needing a huge budget, making high-quality content more accessible to all.
