Entering awards is a great link building tactic

Entering awards is a great link building tactic - and it's easy to find awards and give yourself a good chance of winning. Rachel Meranus gives some tips on Entrepreneur.com.

"Each year," says Rachel Meranus, "numerous publications, industry groups and non-profit organizations publically recognize companies and individuals for their outstanding work in a particular area. For entrepreneurs, winning awards can be a powerful public relations tool to gain an edge on the competition, attract potential clients and boost employee morale."

"While the benefits are fairly evident, the process of identifying, submitting and publicizing an award isn't as widely understood."

Link Builders should know the value of entering and winning awards.

Even entering awards and making the short list of finalists is a great networking opportunity and in itself can lead say to local media coverage. Going on to win often brings national attention.

Rachel's 5 tips:

  1. Actively look for awards to enter.
  2. Submit early! (that's the mark of a winner - Ken)
  3. Pay close attention to categories
  4. Be selective
  5. Promote your award.

The article doesn't specifically mention link building but it's all great advice that many people overlook.
