ALS receive a whopping $88.5 million, Amazon buys Twitch and Mozilla's first smartphone

Google launched a feature that lets you import your videos loaded into Google+ directly to your YouTube channel.

Keane from the YouTeam stated:

“We have launched a new feature that will allow you to import videos from Google+ Photos.

If you are a regular Google+ user and have uploaded plenty of videos to share with your circles, or if you have Google+ Photos Auto backup on your mobile device, you will be able to import all these videos to YouTube.”

You can easily store those videos on YouTube, share with fans and keep uploading content to your channel. Here's how to do it:

In May we posted about YouTube and Twitch, but this week it's all Amazon. They announced that they've reached an agreement to acquire Twitch. (leading live video platform for gamers) Last month, more than 55 million unique visitors viewed more than 15 billion minutes of content on Twitch produced by more than 1 million broadcasters.

Here's what Amazon chief executive Jeff Bezos had to say:

"Broadcasting and watching gameplay is a global phenomenon and Twitch has built a platform that brings together tens of millions of people who watch billions of minutes of games each month,"

"We look forward to learning from them and helping them move even faster to build new services for the gaming community"

Many people have seen this news as the fight to help Amazon in its quest to beat streaming video sites like YouTube and Netflix. What are your thoughts?

On Monday, Mozilla (known for Firefox browser) announced in a blog post that they’ve launched a new low-cost smartphone in India that will retail for 1,999 rupees ($33; £19.90). If you’re in India, then you can find them at snapdeal.com.

Here’s what Dr. Li Gong, (President of Mozilla) said:

“It is exciting to see the Intex Cloud FX now available as the first Firefox OS device in India and Asia. The positive consumer feedback from other markets tells us that people like the unique user experience and openness we’re building with Firefox OS. With support from Intex, Firefox OS smartphones in the ultra-low-cost category will redefine the entry-level smartphone and create strong momentum in Asia”

A quick update on the ALS ice bucket challenge:

“Just one week ago, donations totaled $22.6 million. In just seven days, donations have skyrocketed by an average of $9 million per day, now totaling $88.5 million.”

Finally, our app of the week goes out to Codecademy an educational favorite.

Learn how to build amazing things online by programming. The app gets you started with basic concepts behind the apps on your phone and the websites you visit - so you’ll soon learn to understand the basic structure of coding. Have fun!

"Great application, a well built application, great for long journeys".
