Adobe has carried out a survey into how consumers use TikTok for search, and how businesses are adapting to this growing trend.

Among the Gen Z respondents, nearly one in 10 said they were more likely to rely on TikTok than Google as a search engine; two in five cited personalisation as the reason they were drawn to TikTok.

More than half of business owners surveyed (54%) use TikTok to promote their business, with an average of 9 posts a month.

The infographic below presents Adobe's findings under three main sections:

  • TikTok for search: generational usage; what searchers are looking for.
  • TikTok content consumption: why consumers are using TikTok for search; what kind of content they prefer when searching on TikTok.
  • Business owners on TikTok: how different types of content perform;  main challenges.
