Front end web developer/designer role at Wordtracker in London

Wordtracker is a search marketing company that specialises in helping people get more traffic to their websites.

We have an opportunity for a Designer/Front-end web developer to join on a permanent basis.

The designer/front-end web developer role is an amazing opportunity to work on a mix of web app UI/UX challenges and marketing/branding work on our website. You will be working on our subscription applications which are used by thousands of subscribers. Our site gets more than 5 million views a year and our SEO Academy is recognised as one of the most important sources for search marketing information on the internet. This is a new and important role for Wordtracker. We aim to build a larger front-end team over the course of the new few years and you will play a key role in developing that team.

We're a well-known company, with a strong brand and a worldwide client-base. We are a self-sustaining business which has been running successfully for over 10 years - there's no VC funding. At Wordtracker we offer a great company culture. You will be based in a modern open-plan office - with exposed brickwork, lots of space and plenty of natural light - in north London (Kentish Town, about five minutes walk from the tube). We work in a pretty casual environment with flexible working hours. We have standup every morning at 11am; we work from home on Mondays (unless you need to be pairing with someone) and our lunch on Fridays is provided from a local organic cafe. Of course, there's always plenty of fruit and snacks in the office, a holiday allowance of 23 days a year and a contributory pension scheme. You'll be given a Macbook Pro to work on, with a 24 inch monitor. You'll feel that your contribution makes a direct difference to the bottom line. We operate with a flat hierarchy and transparent finances. You'll always know how well we're doing and what the bottom line trends are.

Key skills for this role are:

  • Generalist - knowledge of web user interface design and front-end development.
  • An interest in creative visual design, current user experience trends and information architecture in a web context.
  • Photoshop (or equivalent) skills
  • Excellent HTML and CSS skills
  • Javascript skills, jQuery knowledge a definite plus.
  • Knowledge of web standards, browser compatibility issues, progressive enhancement, graceful degradation

Other important aspects:

  • Interested in working in a commercial internet business.
  • Connecting user experience with business priorities.
  • A pragmatic approach to design and development.

The successful applicant will report to Steven Shingler, the company's CTO.

If you feel you have what it takes to make this role a success please send your CV along with a covering letter explaining why you think you would be suited to the role to steven@wordtracker.com by 29th April.

Please note we do not accept CVs from Recruitment Agencies.
