Search Engine Optimization for Dummies is a good book by Peter Kent. It covers all the facets of SEO and therefore is a big fat book. Is there any brief summary of all those chapters so that anyone can go through the finer tips without getting too deep.
This book is an unusually easy read for a subject like SEO. I bought this book several years ago when I was first learning about SEO, and I must say; it was extremely helpful to me as a then beginner. The book mixes theory with established principles and techniques, teaching the reader a lot more about SEO than the latest trends. While it isn't the newest SEO book out there, it is still hands down one of the best for beginners. That said, advanced SEOs and SEO professionals might find it useful to help teach employees. However, for those in the advanced class looking to advance their knowledge even further, this book contains little they haven't likely encountered several times before.
An overall great learning manual for beginning SEOs.
