Getting started with Link Builder - Transcript 4: Contact view

Posted by on 23 September 2011

In the analysis view you'll have selected the prospects you wanted to target.

Contact tab

Now hit the contact tab to start the process of contacting.

But first you need to isolate them.

Filter

Hit the filter button ...

Targeted

... and from the dropdown menu select Targeted. This now displays all the prospects that you decided to target.

Prospect

Select all of these by clicking on the 'Prospect' box.

Find contact data

Then click 'Find contact data.' Link Builder now spiders each of your targets to collect links to the ...

Contact pages

... contact pages, links to the About Us pages ...

Social media

... any social media links on Twitter, Google+ and Facebook.

That's quite a bit of spidering so it can take a few minutes. But if you were doing it by hand, it would take many hours. You may have to refresh the page for the results to appear.

More info

You see these details by clicking on 'More info.'

In a very few cases our spider may be blocked. If this is the case, just go to their site and gather the information manually.

You now have enough information to start approaching prospects.

Remember, it's people who make links so you've got to find their names whenever you can.

More info

Check the 'About us' page by clicking on the link. You'll then find out who is behind the site and what they're interested in, and you'll find out how they prefer to be contacted.

For each prospect, record the details of the action you've taken.

More info

In this one I noted the date and set the time to follow up.

You can start the whole process again from newly chosen prospects from the thousands that Link Builder has found for you.
