This week's 'Stuff we like' covers WhatsApp going down, the new Google+ feature, the SMX conference agenda and our app of the week.

The past week we’ve heard a lot about our favorite instant messaging service Whatsapp and the huge $19 billion acquisition from Facebook. It was all celebrations on Wednesday when Mark Zuckerberg posted on Facebook his excitement to work with WhatsApp -

WhatsApp had every option in the world, so I’m thrilled that they chose to work with us. I’m looking forward to what Facebook and WhatsApp can do together, and to developing great new mobile services that give people even more options for connecting.

It then proved bad timing when WhatsApp went down for 3 hours during the weekend. They left many users annoyed and voicing their anger on Twitter, whereas others joked that the WhatsApp team were too busy celebrating to fix their technical problems.

If you’ve been browsing your company’s Google+ page this week, you may have noticed that on the right side of your dashboard you can now see a snippet of your Google Analytics from the past 30 days. This handy new feature shows you the number of new visits, unique visitors and pageviews to your site - so a useful way to get a quick glance at your analytics and see how your site’s doing. On that note, Google Analytics now have a new grey interface - goodbye orange. Do you prefer the new design?

Our app of the week goes out to the Sleep Time alarm clock. If you find it hard to get up in the mornings like me, then this app is godsend. It’s described as

The next generation sleep cycle alarm clock that leaves you feeling rested after every night’s sleep.

But, the standout is that the alarm clock uses the sensitive accelerometer on your phone to detect movements during the night, so it can determine your phase of sleep. Set the time and you’ll be woken up during a light sleep rather than a deep one, so you won’t wake up feeling groggy again.

SMX London is getting closer, so we’ve now published an agenda for the conference. If you’ve never been and you’re interested in going this year, take a look at what’s in store with our SMX agenda. Don’t forget to head over to the registration page to get your 15% discount by using the code WORDTRACKER14.

See you in March!
