Wordtracker publishes top-keyword reports—you can see a list of the 1,000 top keyword phrases used by people searching at our partner search engines. These lists can be both entertaining and useful—some people use them to get an idea of what online businesses could be a good bet.
We publish two lists. The Long Term list is a compilation of the most popular search phrases over the last couple of months—the most popular phrases out of over 300 million searches. The Short Term list is the most popular phrases over the last 48 hours. The Short Term list includes many items that are temporary, related to recent news stories. But it can also indicate the beginning of new trends that may not be visible in the Long Term reports.
Note that you can turn the pornography filter On, if you wish, removing “obscene” searches from the list. Number 1,000 on the list that includes obscene terms will probably be at around position 700 on the list that does not include obscene terms. In other words, around 30% of the terms will be removed when turning on the filter (but the list will be extended lower so the entire list is still 1,000 entries).
