What does 24hr mean?

This is the predicted daily traffic for each keyword in this search engine only.

Eg. If you see the number 33 in the 24Hr column, this tells you that we estimate this particular keyword to be queried 33 times today in this engine.

However this is not the actual number of people who will visit your site.

This would be impossible to determine as it depends on factors such as whether your title, description, are intriguing enough, and how close your site matches what people are looking for.

IMPORTANT NOTE

If you see a N/A in the 24Hr column, then you are using either the GoTo or 7Search keyword database. We cannot make any predictions using these databases, as GoTo/7Search will not release their exact keyword database sizes.

The GoTo engine, for example, has their listings on AltaVista, AOL Search, Direct Hit, Go Network, iWon, Lycos, NBCi, Netscape Search, Search.com, and major metacrawlers like Metacrawler, Dogpile, Mamma. Not to mention all the minor engines, directories and pay per bid engines out here.

So we can't just say, GoTo has 2.18% of the market and then use their monthly count figures to figure out the number of searches for all the major search engines. We have no idea whether their total database size represents 2.18% of the market, or somewhere in the region of 25-30% of the market since they also track the searches from their partner sites. Any prediction we make using GoTo or 7Search would therefore be inaccurate.

On the other hand, a metacrawler like Metacrawler or Dogpile is already performing parallel searches of all the major search engines. We know the exact number of daily queries from each of these metacrawlers, we know the exact percentage of people using these services, and we also know that nobody bothers metacrawling a metacrawler! There would be no point.

This is why we can make fairly accurate predictions using the Wordtracker database but not using the GoTo/7Search databases.

The only accurate engine we can predict is GoTo itself. This is why you will see figures in the 24Hr column if you query the GoTo engine using the GoTo keyword database.
