  82. Why Google+ is the only thing that matters

Posted by Andrew Tobert on 29 May 2012

Few things have united the online marketing community more than Google+. Everyone hates it. Widely regarded as unnecessary, Google users spent about 3 minutes per month on the website, versus about 8 hours on Facebook In a socially-saturated world, Google+ just isn’t adding up. But if we’re comparing Google+ to Facebook (and other social networks), maybe we’re being premature. Maybe Google+ is the only one that matters?

It's crucial that the main pages on your site are well optimized. You should be checking regularly for SEO errors or problems that might prevent Google from listing you in its results. It's only once you've identified the pages that require most work, that you can start improving them.

That's why we've created a site audit tool for Wordtracker's Keywords tool subscribers.

Guest blogger: Chris Turberville-Tully, MD of Inspiration Inc, a UK-based digital marketing agency.

I like analytics. 'Love' I will leave to others but ‘like’, yes that’s me. I was starting to wobble though (could I love analytics?), following Tuesday’s keynote speech at Search Engine Strategies (SES) London by Analytics evangelist and rock star, Avinash Kaushik. To coin a phrase from some of my US friends, it was “totally awesome”.

Then came our last day at SES London. We were on our 3rd (4th for those of us who went to OMS on Monday) day of all things search, and the keynote was from Jim Sterne.

Posted by Wordtracker on 24 June 2009

Sometimes, I really don't want to think about keywords.

Don't get me wrong. Of course, I know keywords are important. It never ceases to amaze me just how much I can find out about what people are looking for, how many different ways I can find to express the same idea, how many great content ideas I can generate or how many niche markets I can discover. The possibilities are as limitless as the English language.

Posted by Wordtracker on 15 April 2009

The late Gary Halbert used to ask the following question of his students at his copywriting seminars:

"If you and I both owned a hamburger stand and we were in a contest to see who could sell the most hamburgers, what advantages would you most like to have on your side to help you win?"

Answers from his students included: getting superior meat to make the hamburgers, a superior location, or even having the lowest price.

Once the students had exhausted themselves, Gary would offer them all the advantages they asked for if he could have just one--

    "A starving crowd!"
