  1. This is maybe one of the best articles on link building that I have ever read. I am currently trying to build quality links to a blog I am developing on cholesterol mythology and the natural treatment of heart disease.

I have performed rigorous research on this topic for months now and this is one of the best summations I have come across. If anyone who reads this is in the health and nutrition industry and would like to consider exchanging links please let me know.

  2. I would have to agree with Brians comment above, having searched around the Internet for many months trying to get some sensible information I have finally found it! The article is very imformative and sets out what needs to be done. Brian I am not in the health and nutrition industry but rather the hotel industry!

  3. Thanks for breaking it down for us. Sometimes it can get very overwhelming trying to figure out what I should be doing next as far as link building. I am now realizing that I should not be focusing on just one aspect at a time, but I should try doing a little bit of everything each day. Thanks for the info.

  4. I'm a dog breeder. I have only choices of products pertaining to dogs to link to, anything else won't help me at all.

  5. Ken, thanks for a very informative article that covers many critical areas.

  6. With all of the SEO tactics and BS constantly bombarding us all, in the end it all really boils down to simply adding quality and developing relationships. Great article!

  7. Great article! The Pointsec story is a good one to stir the creative energy. Thanks.

  8. This was a useful reminder that nothing worthwhile happens without some serious work behind it. Your number 10 is a good example - some of my best results have followed relationship building efforts. It just takes persistence and time.

  9. Very nice article, specially "#12. Anticipate - be prepared for the unexpected".

With Google's constant changes and the imminence of a Microsoft-Yahoo merger we never know what could happen to our rankings tomorrow.

    Keep up the good work.

  10. This is often a difficult area for a lot of companies - time consuming when you often feel you don't have the time. But this article inspires you to realise that it is worth putting the effort in. Things that are worthwhile always involve a bit of effort and hard work. If it was really easy everyone would have already done it!

  11. What a wonderful link building article. It's certainly a great resource I'm going to pass on to others who want to understand the mindset of increasing webtraffic, instead of making so many mistakes at first. Thank you.

  12. So many good points! I have read the article twice, and printed it our for future reference. One point that isn't written specifically in the article, but the message comes across, is not to feel over-whelmed by all there is to do. I especailly like point #8....write everyday, even if is a single 100 word blog. I also like point #7, don't overwhelm people and try to tell them everything. But, maybe, point #2, good old-fashioned, getting to know your customers is really the most important thing. We entered into conversations when people entered our physical stores; why not do the same when they enter our website. We have written websites to meet new customers, and we should be treating them in the same way as we would if we met them face-to-face. Thank you for the great info!

  13. Great Ken! this has been a very resourceful article to me as a newbie in search engine optimization. It has really thrown a huge light on link building. Thanks..

  14. Seems like a some of the old networking ideas work on the web as well, thanks for the great article

  15. Linkbuilding is important for Google search rankings, but I think building a relationship with other sites of similar content brings more visitors.

  16. This is a great article , Thank You . I work every day at finding new links to our Online gift site . Now in saying this I still find that one has to get over the fear of asking for the link , so I now just go for it and ask the top sites first and work my way down . Happy Linking !! RT

  17. some of my best results have followed relationship building efforts. It just takes persistence and time. thanks

  18. Clear and concise, very articulate and explanatory for a beginner like me. I feel like as I have known this for ages. Thanks a lot

  19. having been given the task of 'finding out about SEO' for our company this article is both interesting and informative.

  20. Thanks for your insight.... the article was great. It helps to be reminded of the tools at hand. Thanks again.

  21. Very informative post! i want to share my opinion here that Reciprocal Linking is also one of the ways to make your site popular and get large number of web traffic. Search engines do not count on this kind of linking, as it consider under the mutual partnership, but still it is in use because it divert the most classified customers towards your site. This technique of link building is equally important, as the one-way link building.

  22. Ken, great article. Thanks for putting all of this valuable information in one place. I really appreciated your tone of encouragement as link building truly is a journey, not a destination.

  23. Great article. Yes we have had tremendous success with our clients using our service. Link farms or irrelevant inbound links don't do anything (worse they can potentially penalize your site). Inbound linking is not the cure all but it will free up your site for better natural search results if you where lacking that piece of the puzzle. We have seen that first hand with many clients escalating from page 3-5 on relevant keyword Google searches to Page 1. Although if you are doing ON SITE things incorrectly, it will hardly correct those issues. I recommend using websitegrader.com to see if you need to correct onsite issues and yahoo site explorer (filtering by inbound links excluding your own domain) to see if you are in desperate need of more links. If you display 100 or less. You need some cred. -Brent
