What is Google Page Rank and how do I measure it? by Mark Nunney, 15 August 2007

Google PageRank is a rough guide from Google to the popularity of your site's pages according to its inbound links. Although quick, it’s crude and often gives the wrong impression so use alongside other metrics. Here's how to find out your site's Google Page Ranks.

Download the Google Toolbar.

Then - with an image something like that below - it will show you the Google PageRank for every page you view.

  1. Michael: you are unlikely to create the searches you seek (although that is possible with some clever PR). So for this discussion the searches are either happening or not. Many niches are too small to appear on keyword research tools.

You could try some PPC advertising before returning to your organic efforts. See:

  2. You're my HERO! Seriously, I just joined a great "site building company" and love all of the tools, advice and testimonials that they have given me however, it's a little too much for this neophyte! I need really simple terms explained on a 5th grader's level and that's exactly what I got from your site! You've obviously achieved tremendous success with all of this "internet stuff" and, from your picture, it looks like you're doing exactly what you want. This is something I hope to be doing in the not-so-distant future...

I do have one basic question and when you read this I hope that you don't role over and laugh until you cry.

I recently moved to one of the most beautiful mountain towns in North America and I have always been passionate about this place and all that it offers by way of activities, restaurants, people and, most of all, scenery. This is the theme that I want to build my website around however the name of the town does not score very high at all on the Keyword Tool even though it's next to a very famous National Park. If I can pull out enough seed words (i.e., hiking, camping, skiing, etc.)and Niche's (i.e., hiking boots, camping gear, snow skis, etc.) to build a decent amount of content will that be enough to carry my "not-so-popular" town theme to traffic central?

Any advise would be remembered forever….
